In a country like India sports is not given much preference as an alternative e way to earn lively hood. Parents are concerned with there children studying and taking up a job which can guarantee the Childs future survival. Due to this reason there is not much encouragement for various sports in India.
That’s precisely is the reason why there is also a paucity of sponsorships for sports in India. In a scenario such as this it is creditable that the Bakers basket has been sponsoring the tennis tournament in the city of Pune.
This event is being held for the past 12 years at the “Ladies Club Tennis Courts”. This Tournament is a non-ranking Junior Tennis Tournament which is conducted by “Sunny Jacob Tennis Academy”. Capt. Sunny Jacob is the Director of the Tournament. the tournament is played for Boys under 11, 13 and 15 years and Girls under the age of 11, 13 years.
The management of the tournament is supposed to be the best and the parents keep talking bout the same. The Entry Forms are collected from all the “Baker’s Basket” Shops located at Aundh Road, Bhandarkar Road, Karvenagar, Sinhgad road, Kalyani nagar, Viman nagar, Dhole Patil Road, Bibve wadi, Paud road, East Street, Karve Road, Magarpatta, Wanowri and also at The Ladies Club. The draws and the Match Schedule is put up one day prior to the tournaments at the Ladies Club.
The event is covered very well by all the city media including Times of India, Indian express, Sakaal, Pune mirror, as this tournament gets some of the known names and personalities of Pune for the official Inauguration.
The bakers Basket as organizers of the Tournament feel that the basic aim is to offer an opportunity to local tennis players to participate in the tournament & inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship through this Tournament. For the same reason, apart from the first and the runners up prizes the Tournament also offers a prize for the best-behaved player on the Court for both the Categories.
Bakers Basket Pune, India is the only bakery and patisserie company which organizes such events in Pune.
